Pick Up

Once your order has been paid for and processed, you can pick it up at your selected pickup location. Your invoice will provide the instructions for the specific pickup location you have selected.

Customer FAQs

How does it work?

Once you reserve your beef share and your deposit amount is received, we will email you your scheduled harvest date. For information about how far out we are booking, please contact buckeyevalleybeefcooperative@gmail.com.  

On harvest week, we’ll text you to confirm your order-- please respond so we can confirm your order. For those who ordered custom packages, you will be contacted by our processor to walk you through your cut options. You don't need to have any prior experience or knowledge; she's an expert and ready to walk you through the entire process. You will receive your final invoice via email which will contain the pickup instructions for your selected location. Please take note that the J & L and Milford locations require payment in full before pickup. Read your instructions carefully regarding pickup times and payment options. 

Can I change my scheduled harvest date?

If you need to make a change to your scheduled harvest date, please contact us at buckeyevalleybeefcooperative@gmail.com and we will be happy to assist you.

How much meat should I expect to bring home?

A beef quarter, is around 110 lbs., a half of beef on average is about 220 lbs. and a whole is around 440 lbs. Weight varies depending on cut options selected and your animal's hanging weight. 

What is the current price?

Current prices as of April 2025 are as follows:

$5.10 for a quarter
$5.00 for a half
$4.90 for a whole

Your price includes cutting, packaging, and freezing. 

Approximate total cost:

  • A beef quarter is approximately $996 to $1051.
  • A beef half is approximately $1,750 to $2,061.
  • A whole beef is approximately $3,430 to $4,042.50.
  • Your $200 deposit will be subtracted from this total.
  • If you break this down by price per pound, you are getting the steaks alone for $8-9 lbs. --more than half the savings per pound than what you’d purchase at the grocery store!

Can I ship my beef share?

We are sometimes asked to ship beef shares. If this is something you want, please contact us at buckeyevalleybeefcooperative@gmail and we will provide you with an estimate on your shipping. Your shipping fee will be applied to your final invoice and must be paid in full before we can ship. 

Are there any additional fees not included in my price per pound?

Our price per pound includes all fees. The only additional fee added to your invoice will be if you choose to pay via credit card. This can be avoided if you pay by cash, check, or ACH payment.

    How does my meat come packaged?

    All meat is flash-frozen and placed in high-quality vacuum-sealed packaging at a USDA processing facility. The meat is transported in boxes approximately 22.5 x 15.5 x 6.5. An average quarter comes in about 2-4 boxes, an average half comes in 4-6 boxes, and an average whole comes in about 8-12 boxes.

    When do I pickup?

    Generally, 

    For Farm Store pickups, pickups can begin starting the Saturday after you receive your invoice.

    For Milford Meat-ups, see here for more information on the next meat-up time after you receive your invoice. 

    For J&L Butcher Shop pickups, after you receive a call releasing your order. This occurs after your final invoice has been paid in full. 

    When do I need to pay my remaining balance?

    Your final invoice, with your deposit subtracted from the total, will be emailed the week your order is cut. Your final payment is due on receipt or at pickup (if your location allows). 

    When do I customize my order?

    Your order will be customized the week it goes to processing. Our processor will call you and walk you through all the cut options available to you. No prior knowledge is required. She is super helpful and often says there are no dumb questions. If you are looking for something specific, be sure to ask -- we can often accommodate most requests. 

    What's in the predesigned beef shares?

    See the chart above which compares our predesigned packages and gives you a general overview of what is in each package. Keep in mind each share varies and this chart should serve only as an estimate. 

    Where do I pick it up?

    After you entered your zip code in our site, you were presented our three pickup locations. This will be where you pickup your order. If you need to change this, or you need a reminder of which you selected, please email us at buckeyevalleybeefcooperative@gmail.com and we will be happy to assist you. Changes to pickup locations can be made up until your final invoice is received. 

    How do I pay?

    Each location has specific requirements about payment methods. Please see your invoice or the location specific instructions above about payment methods accepted at each location. 

    What locations can I pay cash at?

    The only location that accepts cash at pickup is our farm store. All other locations require payment in advance of pickup.

    How do I avoid the 3% credit card fee?

    Cash, check, or ACH payments all avoid the credit card fee. If using ACH, subtract the credit card fee from your total on your invoice before submitting your payment through Quickbooks.
